Chapter 6       Longeing

Longeing
Longeing has several advantages that benefit any horse, regardless of his age or stage of training.

Longeing can take the edge off a horse that hasn't been worked in a while or is feeling fresh. It can help teach manners and discipline, and response to verbal commands. It can help develop correct headset and a light mouth on a horse. It can be used to condition and exercise a horse. It helps prepare a horse to learn how to drive.

(NOTE: too much longeing however, can create lameness problems in young horses.)
